 Dr
Leon van Rooyen
The ministry of Dr. Leon van Rooyen has spanned more than
thirty years and five continents. He has served as a missionary,
pastor, teacher, evangelist, church planter, relief worker,
apostolic leader, and is the Founding President of Global
Ministries and Relief. In everything that he does, Dr. Leon
promotes a love for God, a loyalty to the Church, a passion
for souls and is committed to raising up servant-leaders.
Global Ministries and Relief (GMR) was birthed out of this
vision.
A vision for the masses and the individual:
Dr. Leon’s ministry proves that one can have a global
vision without losing sight of the individual. World missions
are never far from his mind, but individual needs are always
close to his heart. Because he understands that global evangelism
starts with individuals who have been healed, matured, empowered
by the Holy Spirit, and trained in the Word, his heart’s
desire is to see as many people as possible reach that place
in God.
Dr. Leon van Rooyen desires that every believer be equipped
and mobilized for the purpose of the harvest and building
the glorious Church. He wants to see leaders reach their full
potential in impacting their communities through growing and
healthy churches.
Dr. van Rooyen was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in
South Africa. He now resides in Tampa, Florida. He
has worked in humanitarian relief for more than 25 years.
As an African, Dr van Rooyen understands the issues, cultures
and diversity of needs found in his continent. He has lived
and worked as a humanitarian in areas of civil war, famine
and flood and in refugee camps. He is a compassionate man
who has committed his life to aid the suffering. He is also
well educated and experienced in the complex world of humanitarian
involvement and knows how to get the work done in a professional
manner. He is able to communicate with presidents and the
people in the villages. Dr. van Rooyen has built orphanages;
fed thousands in their heartbreaking fight for survival; and
funded and facilitated medical teams and equipment. Through
his experienced leadership the work of GMR has advanced and
a dynamic team of workers is prepared to accomplish the work
that is submitted in this proposal.
